EtherLynx Vision: The Next Generation of Sports Timing Cameras
The EtherLynx Vision photo-finish camera (5L500) was released in 2015 and ushered in the next generation of high-speed sports timing cameras. The Vision includes new hardware and software features that will make FinishLynx more accessible to novice users and even more versatile during track & field events. While the default camera features will vary greatly depending on the package configurations and upgrades, below are some of the key features that are available with the 5L500 Vision.
Key Features of the Vision Camera
Power-Over-Ethernet
The Vision camera comes standard with a Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) injector so no AC power is required at the camera location. View 5L500 back-plate.
Capture Full Color Images
The EtherLynx Vision camera captures full-color photo-finish images by default. That means all track and field packages now come standard with a color timing camera.
Gigabit Data Transfers
The Vision offers improved data connectivity and is the first EtherLynx camera to allow for full Gigabit Ethernet transfers (up to 1,000 Mbps).
Backwards Compatible
The EtherLynx Vision is compatible with all Lynx cameras made since 1996. Add the Vision to your existing results network and be worry-free.
New Array Sensor
The Vision is the first Lynx camera to contain an array image sensor. It’s what allows users to switch between 1-D and 2-D modes from within the software.
Wireless Transfers
[Upgrade]– Connect a small, external Wi-Fi unit to wirelessly transfer timing & results data directly from your Vision camera without an Ethernet cable.
F.A.T. Results Capture
A basic, Timing-Enabled, Vision Camera can capture 1,000 fps at 640 pixels. Adding the High-Resolution upgrade increases the capture speed to 2,000 fps at 1,280 vertical pixels.
LuxBoost
[Upgrade] LuxBoost greatly amplifies the brightness during low-light captures. Evening events that were once too dark to capture can now be recorded with ease. View a sample image.
Electronic Filter Control
[Upgrade] The Vision allows you to enable and disable low-light camera filters right from within the FinishLynx software with a click of the mouse.
Video Display Module (VDM)
[Upgrade] The Video Display Module (VDM) enables the live display of FinishLynx running time, results, and images on a video display connected to the HDMI port of Vision cameras.
Electronic Viewfinder (EVF)
[Upgrade] The EVF Option allows for the connection to an external, HDMI-connected viewing screen that displays a live view of the finish line plus on-screen indicators of Gain, Level, and Focus.
Onboard Level
[Upgrade] The Vision’s new on-board level feature allows you to monitor that the camera is level directly from within the FinishLynx software.
Internal Battery
[Upgrade] The 5L500 has an optional internal battery pack. The internal battery allows the camera to continue running in the event of a power outage.

All Athletics Packages Include a Vision Camera
All FinishLynx athletics packages sold contain a Vision camera with EasyAlign. Like the US packages, the updated international packages have also been reconfigured to deliver superior value across every budget level. The Competition, Championship, and Grand Prix packages all include at least one Vision photo-finish camera with EasyAlign Video Alignment Mode, the high-resolution upgrade, and other great features. Upgrade Your EtherLynx Camera Today
To encourage upgrades, we will continue offering our generous EtherLynx camera trade-in program. It allows customers to trade-in an existing EtherLynx camera in order to upgrade to a newer 5L500 model camera. Customers will be awarded a buy-back incentive depending on the age, model, and add-ons of their existing camera, which can then be used to toward the purchase of a new Vision camera. The trade-in program is available for 5L100, 5L200, 5L410, and 5L420 model cameras. Because of the limited supply, fulfillment times may vary.
